i used a Dremel-like Tool with a “Trennscheibe” – dont know the english word for that a rotating disk that can be used to cut things. i think you can see it in the video?

Great vid!! Awesome guide! I did the mod myself but never thought of re-using the tube! did u use a saw or some precision dramel tool to cut open the sides?

interesting…..makes ya wonder if you can use UV LED’s instead (which in turn excite the phosphor coating in the CCFL tube that you use as a diffuser)….in essence, replacing the mercury vapor based UV source with a more energy efficient LED one…though dunno what wavelength of UV is needed to get the phosphor to glow white…gonna go wiki that now.

@scorpius26 Yes it is, but I found the original tutorial on your forums, and roughly translated that. I think translating that tutorial would be more valuable!

yes it is a hotglue gun. i think it is possible to add some subtitles in youtube, right? so if so I will do some this weekend

Hilfreich Hab gestern einen auf dem Flohmarkt gekauft.

Hoffentlich hast du dich nicht mit Quecksilber vergiftet als du die Leuchtstoffröhre an den Seiten geöffnet hast. Ansonsten sehr gute Anleitung.

Das mit der LED könnt eigentlich auch so ähnlich auch in dem Atari Lynx funktionieren. Das Display sieht sehr ähnlich aus.

naja wie gesagt diese dritte Platine da in der Konsole ist für den Stromzugang (da geht der netzstecker rein) tausche auch diese Kondensatoren aus, welche das sind steht ja im Tutorial drin. Kann gut sein, dass danach wieder geht. Vielleicht ist aber auch einfach das Netzteil kaputt Gehts denn mit Batterien?

Sehr schön mal wieder gemacht. Habe auch noch einen game Gear der 7 jahre im keller lag und nu nicht mehr funktioniert. Der bekommt iwie kein strom. Wenn du ne idee hast bitte mal melden woran es liegen könnte.

na huch? die Lötstellen löte ich schon vorher mal etwas nach (also gebe etwas lötzinn drauf), sieht man aber nicht, weil ichs rausgeschnitten habe, oder wie meinst du das?

Cooles Tutorial! Aber ein Löttipp: Immer neues Lötzinn verwenden! Das lötet sich dann alles viel leichter und Du schließt das Risiko kalter Lötstellen aus.

Ja, also das Display an sich wird natürlich nicht besser, und tatsächlich es ist eben einfach schon alt und somit nicht das beste. Es geht da wirklich mehr ums Strom sparen. Besser wird das Bild nicht wirklich.

Sehr schöne Folgen mit dem Game Gear, ist auch mein lieblings Handheld:-)
Hatte über das Circuit Board auch erfahren wie ich meinen Game Gear reparieren kann. Und was soll ich sagen hat sogar geklappt mit ein wenig Übung. Gut gemacht und weiter so.
